Wander the World Through Dreams

Vantorea comes from Quenya, the Elven language from J.R.R. Tolkien’s LotR universe. It means “Dawnstrider”. The name “Vantorea” is a tribute to a person who helped me through some really rough waters. Dawnstriders walk the first light of the morning sun. Whether it’s because we’ve stayed up that late or woken up that early, it’s the unique, solitary moment when inspiration, ideas, and fantasies come to life that unites us.

Studies and CV

I’ve studied classical singing since 2014. Prior to that I immersed myself in band and choir activities and practiced independently. Originally I started my musical studies at the age of five by playing the violin, which was my companion for a little over ten years. Eventually I had to come to terms with the fact that the violin could never be enough for me as a tool of expression. Singing has always been my way of channeling all those feelings, stories and worlds I have bubbling beneath the surface.

I’m currently studying in the Jyväskylä University of Applied sciences. I’m supposed to graduate in spring 2023 with a bachelor of classical music pedagogy. In other words I’ll be a classical singing teacher. My studies have helped me improve my singing technique and I’ve found a new interest in teaching. I’ve also learned to use digital tools such as midis and VST plugins in music production.

Spring 2022 will be all about our university’s production of G.F. Händel’s opera Xerxes where I will be starring as Amastre. In addition to amazing music the opera is filled with schemes and betrayals, broken hearts and love stories within the court of Xerxes, emperor of Persia. The production will be directed by Ville Saukkonen. Info on dates and tickets here.

Chariot of Fate

Chariot of Fate was a chamber metal band that was a huge part of my life from 2009 to 2019. We released an EP and two music videos. With Chariot I got a taste of what the life of a musician is like with all the recordings and live shows, and I know with all my heart that’s what I’m made for. Our music strove to transform the massive epicness of symphonic metal so that every instrument can be played and heard live on stage. The unique sound was created by combining a cello, violin, keys and two versatile vocalists with the traditional heavy metal comp. In addition to singing I was also responsible for our graphics, website and costume design in music videos.

Choir Activity

I was in Kuopio Youth Choir from 2008 to 2014. I got to experience some of the most amazing things with the choir like my first proper studio session recording the Kerkko Koskinen Kollektiivi album, trips to Denmark and Wales and real live shows in Ruisrock and the Hartwall Arena. I’m so grateful for my years with this group!
